  • Mustefa Abakeno has become a celebrated name in specialty coffee, known for the exceptional quality of coffee from his 18-hectare farm in Beshasha Kebele, Agaro. Beyond producing incredible coffee himself, Mustefa has played a pivotal role in shaping his community’s coffee future. He co-founded the Hunda Oli cooperative (partnered with Crop to Cup since 2016) and the Kata Meduga Union, helping to elevate the region’s coffee industry.

In 2018, Mustefa obtained his export license, capitalizing on a 2017 reform that empowered smallholder farmers to export directly. Today, he not only processes coffee from his own farm but also partners with 36 outgrower neighbors—seven of whom are women—combining efforts to produce extraordinary coffees.

With farms situated at altitudes reaching 2,100 meters, they grow varieties celebrated for their unique flavor profiles. Mustefa expertly processes these coffees as both naturals and washed, crafting flavor experiences that highlight the best of Ethiopian coffee.

When you enjoy a cup of coffee from Mustefa’s farm, you’re not just tasting exceptional quality—you’re supporting a community built on collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
